This book is a must-have. Polgar - Problems, Combinations & Games. This is one of the best chess books on Chess Tactics, which organizes 5, unique instructional positions! This book is written by the father of the Polgar sisters who all became Grandmasters. The book is widely known and has excellent reviews! Chess Openings for White Explained and Chess Openings for Black Explained are complete opening repertoires for the tournament player. Written by GMs and renowned opening experts Lev Alburt, Roman Dzindzichashvili, and Eugene Perelshteyn, the books have found great popularity among players who want to play exciting openings without learning a huge amount of material.

Everyone’s Second Chess Book, of course! Acclaimed chess teacher Dan Heisman equips the not-quite-novice with the practical tools and knowledge needed to get started in competitive play: how to develop board vision; what to do when you’re way ahead in material; how to avoid common mistakes in thinking; when to “believe” your opponent Brand: Mongoose Press. The knight moves to the first square its line of movement passes through the middle of, so like the King the knight has eight squares he can move to when he is near the center of the board. Since the knight is moving between the squares adjacent to him pieces do not hinder his move whether they are allied or enemy.

Some of my favourites: Chess Art and Combinational Motifs - both by Maxime Blokh Test Your Chess IQ: Book 1, Book 2 and Grandmaster Challenge by A. Livshitz Brilliant Chess Sacrifices and Combinations by Fred Reinfeld - very useful & instru. His book was the first chess book to be translated into Russian. This was the first book that organized the chess openings. He was the first to number each move and its reply with the same number. In H. J. R. Murray wrote A History of Chess, published by Oxford University Press. It is pages long and the best reference to chess history.

Are you an author. Learn about Author Central. Raja Rao (Author) out of 5 stars 1 rating. ISBN 5/5(1). "The Chessmaster and His Moves is a most ambitious novel, and like most of Raja Raos writing, rooted in Indian tradition, thought and sensibility.

At one level The Chessmaster is the story of an impossible love between Sivarama Sastri, an Indian mathematician working in Paris, and a married woman which can only end in sorrow and despair.4/5(10). They game mentioned is not out of book at move three, its just a ECO 23 Closed Sicilian.

I just see that book moves help coordinate your pieces to squares that are most effective and knowing why they are best (book) is due to results. Most book moves are doing the same thing either its classical or hyper-modern style of play.

Evans brings you through several moves of an opening, giving you choices of three moves to pick at various spots. In the back are detailed explanations of why certain moves were wrong, and of which one was right.

The explanations are incredible. They are /5(5). Polgar's book on combinations and progressive learning is well done and one of the best books for someone learning or even intermediate. his daughters are outstanding chess players for a reason. Averbakh's book on chess ending, available in English on disc is a well-organized educational book on endings that I put in the top 5.

Larry Kaufman’s repertoire book is a great addition to the library chessmaker and his moves book any serious chess player. Half of the book is devoted to a White repertoire (he recommends 1.

d4, though there are a couple lines that transpose to 1. e4 lines, so e4 players can get at least something out of the book), while the reverse half focuses on Black responses to various White : Edward Chessmaker and his moves book.

Search through more than 3, opening lines to find the perfect chess opening for you. Explore openings variations and find matching master chess games to study. Chess Openings and Book Moves -   Chess Book Excelling at Chess by Jacob Aagaard “Aagaard, an experienced chess author, considers this to be his “best work” and indicates that he “wanted to write about understanding in chess” in a way “that people would find to be a good read.” He most certainly achieved his objective.” ChessCafe.

Chess Book After the first few moves presented in each game, it was helpful to play guess-the-move thereafter (i.e. make the move you think is right in a position, carefully noting your thought process for why you're making the move, and then observing the actual move).

All in all, good book that helps you grasp fundamental opening and middle game principles. Chess Books Library. Wholesale Chess features the largest library of chess books available on the internet. That’s a logical thing to do, because white has overextended on the light squares, and that makes d4 weak. That’s why black responds with c5 or e5 after e4: to.
